Government Funded Trips

Bunker Studios

In 2012 I spent 8 mos in Afghanistan on an all expenses paid trip funded by the Marine Corps. I knew I would be separating from the military in the coming year, so I decided to carry my camera with me everywhere while in country.

I applied a street photography style to my work. Unfortunately while there sand got into my hard drive and destroyed it, so the only images I have from the entire nine months are few. Many I posted to Flickr, so there was a plus there.

Living in Japan was a dream come true. I decided to pursue photography a couple years before moving to Japan from SoCal. Japan truly made me explore all types of photography and helped me decide what specific career in this craft I wanted to pursue.

Street photography was an absolute fun outlet for me. Going out with the camera and a tripod and having no clue what I would return home with is fascinating! At times I can get caught up with wanting my T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More) but street photography helps me break out of the normal frame of mind... pardon the pun, and see my environment in a different light.

Thailand is an amazing country! While there I enjoyed a bit of underground hobby called Urban Exploration. Urbex is a popular passtime in Europe, and is gaining popularity here in the West. There are a few cool websites that you can find simply by Googling the term.

While doing some reconnaissance and research in Bangkok (BKK) I found that it boasted the highest number of abandoned buildings per capita than any other city on Earth. It's basically an urban explorer's dream play land.

I took a staggering amount of images during my downtime in Thailand. Can't wait to go back!
