As a veteran myself I love supporting my brothers in arms. In doing so late 2016 I was commissioned to create an all new magazine. Once hearing about the full scope of the project I thrilled to be the person pulling this project together. Local Menswear boutique owner Victor Hart is a Marine Corps Veteran, an MIT alumni, and a very successful business owner. Being one of my oldest clients, and a fellow Marine he decided to create a magazine about veterans, for veterans, created by veterans.
After weeks of planning the Ivy League's Standard Issue Magazine was born. Photographed, designed, and edited by a small core team of three people Standard Issue magazine went from concept to reality almost over night.
From the start I really poured myself into this project, but I also see the huge potential it has. Houston, and America needs a magazine that highlights Veterans as citizens who are doing more than the status quo post service. It's all too often we see the words Veteran written across a cardboard sign of the many less fortunate ones of us who fall upon hard times. My goal is to show Houston, Texas, and the United States as a whole that we are creating jobs, sustaining the economy, and impacting industries with our determination, motivation, and aspiration.
When I took off my uniform I didn't stop serving. I simply changed how I served.
